Description: MILKBAGSunlimited and the Women of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community gathered at Tahir Hall Community Centre for the Mats of Kindess Community Event. On July 8th, there was a plethora of milk bags ready to be weaved into a sturdy sleeping mat, a crochet handbag and even a pair of shoes! Every mat that is sent away includes a pillow made from milk bag scraps and pieces of fabric. The milk bags have been collected from members of the community since November 2014. The mats and other items will be donated to various countries around the world. The reason they use Canadian milk bags is because they are made of very strong material, do not disintegrate or retain moisture, are UV ray resistant, washable and have a lifespan of 25 years. MILKBAGSunlimited sends more than just mats, handbags and pillows - they also send school supplies, new clothes and shoes, wheelchairs, crutches, kitchen utensils, tools and more.
